RMI currently manages 240,000 square feet of its own contract distribution and storage space at our site at 39269 W. Red Arrow Highway in Paw Paw, MI. The facility is located less than 2 miles from I-94 half way between Detroit and Chicago and just west of Kalamazoo. In addition, the company leases a 40,000 square foot facility in downtown Paw Paw for both public storage and contract work, and provides management and operations personnel for a 60,000 square foot building belonging to a customer in Lawton, MI. |
The Paw Paw facility is home to two contract operations, where RMI serves as the distribution center for two national food processing companies.
Operations there include receiving from various production facilities, storage, order picking for customer shipments down to the case level, and light
repackaging and display pallet production.
The company utilizes the AccuPlus Warehouse Management System, which allows tracking of products at the pallet, case or each level, and facilitates shipment using various inventory rules, including first-in-first-out (FIFO), last-in-first-out (LIFO), oldest production first-out, or shipment of specific lot or sublot codes. All pallets entering the Paw Paw facility are tagged with bar code labels for identification purposes, automating the warehouse location, picking, and shipping processes. All activities are updated to our WMS in real time, ensuring accuracy of inventory
Double Pallet Handler Lift status at all times.
Some customers also choose to take advantage of our available web portal, LogiView, to view inventory, shipment, and receipt activity, accurate to within 15 minutes, from any place with internet access. This ability allows inventory planners to make informed decisions regarding their product availability and communicate with their customers more quickly and accurately.
